With a commitment to prayer, servant hood and growing the Kingdom of God, New Life Community Church was established April 2007 by Reverend James M. Hutchins. At birth the church started with 25 charter families, and from there the Lord rapidly grew the congregation to more than 100 members within its first year. This growth required the congregation to move from its modest places of worship, which included church member’s homes, a Frisco hotel and later a private preschool.
In October of the same year New Life Community Church established its Executive Board. The job of the Executive Board is to provide spiritual guidance, leadership and set directional goals to ensure that New Life would achieve its mission and vision of being a place of worship, praise, and encouragement for all of God’s people.
Within its first year, New Life doubled in size. The families that are members of the church reside throughout Collin and surrounding counties in North Texas. In March of 2008, New Life purchased nearly 11 acres of land on Smotherman Road in Frisco, Texas for future expansion. However, the pace of the ministry’s growth exceeded expectations, as God continued to bring more youth, adults and families to New Life. Despite holding two Sunday services, it quickly became obvious that God was calling New Life to reach new levels.
By the time New Life Community Church reached its second anniversary in April 2009, the ministry had outgrown its meeting space at the private preschool and began searching for a new place to worship.
In August of 2009, the church spent five weeks reshaping a warehouse building into a House of Worship, equipped with a sanctuary that seated over 400 people and classrooms for the youth ministry. Shortly after the renovation they began holding services at 303 King Road in Frisco, Texas. This move was a blessing for the church as it gave them the time that they needed to finalize financing and prepare for the construction process on Smotherman Road.
In 2010 the ministry took on the inspirational theme “Let Him In”. The theme gave the people of God a focal point for worshiping Him in a new way, by simply “letting Him in” to take control of their lives. Having such a strong theme allowed the body to get their hearts centered on God. “Let Him in” set the congregation up to walk into a successful third year as a body of believers. The church held four conferences throughout the year and the Spirit of God came in and moved the people in His own unique way, challenging each one of the members into a deeper walk with Him. Also during 2010 the church had many firsts: first Deacon Ordination, first Hallelujah night, and first Jesus party, just to name a few.
Along with the building project New Life reached out to the community. In May of 2011, they sponsored a “feed the children” outreach to provide food for families in the Little Elm community and in August of 2011, they gave away back to school supplies for the children who reside at the Budget Suites in The Colony. In an effort to promote living a healthy lifestyle (taking care of God’s Temple), New Life held its first annual 5k run/walk, which was a great success. New Life’s commitment to growth in body, mind and spirit led them to provide a 5 week biblical workshop on “managing money God’s way; teaching was provided by Crown’s ministry representative Bro. Scott Maxwell. New Life closed out 2011, with a visit from “The Orphans in Uganda Choir”, who blessed the congregation with songs and dance. It was an amazing experience that touched New Life members deeply and gave the body a greater appreciation for the blessings that God has bestowed upon them.
New Life’s theme for 2012 is “Commitment to: Growth, Discipleship, Service…Psalm 37:5. God is graciously providing ways for New Life to fulfill its commitment to the body and the community. As the Lord led them through each phase of the building process New Life dedicated themselves to trusting God, praying and fasting and after 9 months the project was complete and New Life held its first service and its first live broadcast in the new building at 25631 Smotherman Rd. in Frisco, Texas on March 4th, 2012 just shy of their 5 year anniversary.
The wondrous works of the Lord have been evident in so many ways over the years at New Life. He continues to grow the ministry in a mighty way…”And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” Acts 2:47b.
To God be the glory for the things He has done, He is doing and He will do in the future!
